How to Apply

Prospective students currently living in another country but who wish to study at the Sydney Campus of Curtin University of Technology may apply directly to Curtin Sydney's Admissions Office or through a Curtin University of Technology overseas representative.

Step 1

1. Once you have decided on a course, please contact the Admissions Office and request an Application Form.

2. The Application Form must be fully completed and accompanied with certified copies of all relevant academic transcripts.

3. Successful applicants will receive an Offer Package. This package contains:

a. Letter of Offer (Authority to Enrol)
b. Invoice - Acceptance of Offer
c. Pre-departure Guide

4. To accept our offer to study at Curtin University of Technology, you must complete and sign the 'Acceptance of Offer' and return it with payment of one semester's indicative tuition fees. This payment must be made by the due date on the Letter of Offer and can be made to the University or to a Curtin overseas representative in your country.

Note: Some students may receive a Letter of Offer with conditions. Payment should not be made until you are able to satisfy the conditions on the Letter of Offer.

5. Upon receipt of the Acceptance of Offer and tuition fee payment, the International Office will issue you with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for Overseas Students for the Purpose of Visa Issue. International students on a student visa are required to be enrolled internally on a full-time basis each semester.

Please Note: Students from some countries may be required to undergo pre-visa assessment. Please consult your nearest Australian Embassy/High Commission to enquire if your country is in this category. The Australian Embassy will then notify you whether your application for student (temporary) visa to Australia is successful or not. Once you have been advised by the Australian Embassy that your pre-visa application has been successful, you will be required to pay your tuition fees to the University and to obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for the Purpose of Visa Issue from the Sydney Admissions Office. Please DO NOT make any payments until your pre-visa assessment has been approved.

2. It is advisable to book an air ticket immediately after you accept a student place at Curtin as seats are in heavy demand before the start of semester.

3. To request the airport reception service, eligible students must complete the Airport Reception Booking Form in the Pre-departure Guide. This form will advise the Sydney Admissions Office of your flight arrival details and whether you require temporary accommodation.

Step 3

Your arrival in Sydney. What happens now?

1. If requested, the Admissions Office provides an airport reception and transfer to selected accommodation service for new students who are travelling alone. Alternatively, you may choose to take a taxi to your accommodation.

2. Students without confirmed accommodation, who have requested Airport Reception, will be picked up and transferred to their temporary accommodation. Curtin Sydney will assist students in opening bank accounts and finding permanent accommodation.

3. The University conducts an orientation program to assist students settling into a new country and the university environment. The program includes information on enrolment procedures, study skills, campus facilities, support services, public transport, shopping, and recreational activities.
