Overseas health cover
In Australia, students are now required to provide evidence of OSHC cover for the full duration of their student visa.
Students must purchase Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) from a registered health provider, approved by the
Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. This is required in order to be granted a student visa and must
be paid for before arrival in Australia
There are five Australian Government approved providers of health cover, however Curtin will only process payments for
OSHC Worldcare as it is Curtin’s preferred provider. If students wish to use another provider, they will need to make
their own payment arrangements and show evidence of payment for visa application. Evidence of membership will need to be
provided to Curtin when you accept your offer. For more information about OSHC and a list of providers, visit the
Australian Government Health website.

When does the membership begin?
OSHC will be activated from when international students land in Australia.

If students wish to use another provider, they should contact the health funds directly to enquire about the costs of OSHC products.
In line with the new legislation as of 1 July 2010 Curtin University Sydney will charge visa length OSHC for all
students on packaged courses, i.e. we will invoice and collect OSHC for the duration of the students
study in Australia which may include ELICOS, Certificate IV, Diploma and Degree.
This will apply unless the student requests a Certificate/Diploma ONLY offer in which case they will be charged only for course duration
